Ocean House

Embracing its setting in Solana Beach just steps from the ocean, this contemporary beach house completely opens up to allow ocean breezes to flow freely throughout the home. Its passive design strategies allow for a sustainable design that reduces the need for artificial lighting, cooling or heating. Natural light bathes the interiors because of the vast openings and features such as frameless corner glass and the open atrium above the stairway. The first floor is designed for entertaining guests with an expansive open floorplan, a large kitchen, a guest room, and walls that seem to disappear, creating a seamless transition to the outdoors. The second floor has a large master bedroom and deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean and a rooftop deck above. The home has 4 bedrooms total and a basement below. A limited color and material palette results in a clean, linear home with asymmetrical balance.
