Moonlight State Beach Improvements (Phase 1)

SDA’s services included a Needs Assessment, Programming, Master-planning, and Entitlement Approvals for this 14 acre beach site. Phase 1 included design and construction documents for a restroom / concession building and detached lifeguard garage. Architectural forms take their cues from natural elements found on the site. The saw-tooth roof form echoes the form of ocean waves while the cast in place, sedimentary concrete walls recall nearby sandstone bluffs. The lifeguard garage is recessed into an existing slope to minimize view impacts and provides a roof top viewing deck for the public.
