This project was the first step in the implementation of the Fletcher Cove Master Plan. The building is recessed in the hillside in order to maximize park space and minimize view blockage. A trellis casts shadows onto the concrete walls, providing the “ornament” for this simple structure. Natural light within the stalls is provided via a translucent roof. The design vocabulary and colors takes their cues from the nearby Solana Beach Hotel (a local landmark), sandstone bluffs, and Torrey Pine trees. Architect of Record: AJA. Project Architect / Designer: Stephen Dalton.
